Are they in an aquarium with sea water or simply in a bowl of water? People pay tons of money for the starfish because they are a rarity and very interesting, it is such a waste, go back into the ocean. Tell your friend to be more responsible and feed him and put him in the right atmosphere if it wants to keep. They only last a few days unless they are properly cared for.
