Middle Clique Education — Katie Sikes with Seashore Middle Academy will share this award with Norma Morgan at Cunningham Mesial School. Sikes strives to create a love and fascination for all things science and for everything outdoors through her fervent hands-on style of teaching. Her classroom is a working laboratory and a specimen showcase, enhanced by constant field study. They do get dirty. She started a recycling program on campus, which has grown into a partnership with the urban district. Her students tend to their own vegetable garden, which they cultivate through composting and water conservation.
